Things to Do During Your Stay
With Highworth as your base you will not be short of things to do and places to explore. Start with a visit to the Visitor Centre and take a look at the Museum, perhaps book a Town Tour to learn more about Highworth's fascinating past. Don't forget to check for Local Events during your stay, then turn your attention to the delights of the surrounding countryside.

Highworth itself offers an amazing selection of events throughout the year including; great music at Wrde Up - Highworth's very own Summer music Festival, a free day of family fun at the Mayday Fair, a spectacular firework display in November and, at Christmas, a street fair and Tree Lighting. Many of the pubs and bars in Highworth host live music on a regular basis and there are numerous monthly events such as historical talks, family fun days and not forgetting the theatre provided by HADS, our very own theatrical society.

Medieval May Day Celebration
The Highworth Town Council May Day celebration will this year feature a Medieval theme and promises to be fun for the whole family.

VE Day - 80th Anniversary
On 8 May 2025, Highworth is proud to be joining in a shared moment of celebration as we mark the historic 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Local Attractions
Highworth's hilltop location is blessed be surrounded by beautiful countryside with some idyllic Cotswold towns and villages on our doorstep. Places such as Lechlade-on-Thames, Burford, Cirencester and Stow-on-the-Wold are easily reached, as are the historic cities of Bath and Oxford.
Our corner of Wiltshire is home to the World Heritage Sites of Avebury and Stonehenge. Highworth looks out over The Vale of White Horse known for the iconic Uffington White Horse, the oldest chalk figure in Britain, dating back to around 1000 BCE. Close by is The Ridgeway, an ancient trackway described a Britain's oldest road which follows the same route over the high ground used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers.
