Highworth Artists’ Society

HAS members are busy preparing their paintings for their Autumn Exhibition. As usual there will be a varied selection of paintings and greetings cards on view and available for purchase. The HAS charity for 2024 is ‘Dressability’ (a Swindon based charity). All donations HAS receive from serving refreshments to visitors will be passed to the charity.

Highworth Artists’ Society is a well-established society started in 1969 when three local 
artists ran a small exhibition in the town. We now have a membership from Highworth and
the surrounding area with a waiting list being held when required. It is regretted that we
cannot accept applications for membership from anyone under the age of 18 years.

Workshops are stimulating and lively giving us all a chance to make new friends and to learn
from each other. There is no tutor so members have to have some knowledge of painting/drawing techniques and be able to work on their own projects. We suggest that absolute beginners attend classes before applying for membership.

Exhibitions are held twice a year giving our members the chance to exhibit their own, original artwork. Members and invited visitors enjoy demonstrations by professional artists 2 or 3 times during the year. Trips to events and exhibitions of artistic interest are also arranged. A Christmas buffet lunch usually completes our year. Our members are kept informed of Society news and events via our regular newsletter.
