Sue Ash
About this Artist
Sue Ash (aka SASHart) is a self-taught artist based in Wiltshire. Her paintings are intuitive responses to big skies, vast landscapes, ethereal vistas, cloud formations, and sunlight dancing on the sea. Sometimes realistic but mostly semi-abstract and atmospheric; capturing a sense of place and emotion.
My work also references the beauty and decay found in nature, both at home and further afield. I am passionate about conservation and sales of my original pointillism studies of African wildlife provided support for the amazing work being carried out by Poached Rhino in South Africa.
Working primarily in acrylics, Sue loves the contrast between smooth, blended areas of paint applied with rags or her fingers and the more textured areas where brushes and palette knives are energetically moved across the surface.
Sue’s first solo exhibition was in 2019 and later that year two of her photographs were selected for the Swindon Museum & Art Gallery Open Exhibition. A former committee member of Swindon Open Studios, her work has been exhibited across Swindon.
