The Highworth Arts & Literature Festival is up and running!

Events kicked off with a wonderful Art Exhibition in the Community Room opening on Saturday 13 and closing on Monday 15 June. Ann March, Richard Harpin and Photographer Neil George hung an impressive 97 works or art between them. These were supplemented by cards and unframed works and woodturning by Don Webster.

Thank you to everyone who came to view the exhibition and gave us such nice comments. The Prospect Volunteers did a fantastic job providing our visitors with drinks and delicious home made cakes, we raised a respectable £230 for the Prospect Hospice charity over the weekend.

On Monday evening Highworth Choral Society enjoyed a bumper turnout of both familiar and new faces at their Open Rehearsal. Regular choir goers and eager visitors sang Handel, Mozart, Whitacre and The Tokens. The cake went down well and everyone enjoyed their evening of song.

Although these events have passed, Highworth still has lots to look forward to during the coming week leading up to the big weekend of the 20 and 21 June. There is a Quiz on Tuesday night, a Talk by Dr Rosa Matheson and an Open Mic Poetry Night on Thursday, the Art Exhibition Preview on Friday evening. Check out the full programme online or pick up a leaflet in Visit Highworth or around town.

Don’t forget to sample the Festival brew, “Ale’s Well That Ends Well” in the Wine Bar or The Highworth.
